Travelers flying out of Cleveland will soon have another airline to choose from.
Avelo Airlines has officially launched service at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, becoming the airport’s newest passenger carrier and adding two new nonstop destinations for Northeast Ohio travelers. The airline begins service on June 19 and marks Avelo’s first expansion into the Ohio market.
The arrival comes at a time when Cleveland Hopkins is working to expand travel options and replace routes lost by other low-cost carriers.
Where Avelo Is Flying
Avelo’s new Cleveland service includes nonstop flights to Concord, North Carolina, and New Haven, Connecticut. Both routes will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.
The Concord route provides access to the Charlotte metropolitan area, while New Haven offers travelers a convenient gateway to southern New England. The Connecticut destination is also within easy reach of New York City and Boston.
According to Avelo, introductory fares started as low as $39 one way, continuing the airline’s low-cost business model.
Why This Matters for Cleveland Travelers
The addition of Avelo gives Northeast Ohio residents more choices when booking flights.
Airport officials say the new routes strengthen Cleveland’s connectivity while providing affordable travel options. The airline becomes the 11th passenger carrier serving Cleveland Hopkins.
The move is particularly notable because several low-cost carriers have recently reduced or eliminated service in Cleveland. Avelo’s arrival helps fill part of that gap and adds new competition to the local travel market.
About Avelo Airlines
Houston-based Avelo Airlines launched in 2021 and has focused on serving underserved markets and offering nonstop service between smaller and mid-sized cities. The carrier has built its reputation around low fares, simplified service, and point-to-point routes.
The airline currently serves more than 30 destinations across the United States and continues to expand its network. Cleveland represents Avelo’s first destination in Ohio.
A Growing Airport
The announcement comes as Cleveland Hopkins prepares for a major modernization effort.
The airport recently unveiled its long-term CLEvolution project, a multibillion-dollar plan designed to modernize facilities, improve passenger experiences, and position Cleveland for future growth. Cleveland Hopkins handled more than 10 million passengers in 2025, making it Ohio’s busiest airport.
For Northeast Ohio travelers, Avelo’s arrival means more nonstop options, more competition, and potentially lower fares. For Cleveland Hopkins, it is another sign that the airport continues to attract new airlines and expand its reach as air travel demand grows across the region.
