Ella Langley has made Billboard Hot 100 history with “Choosin’ Texas.” The country hit has now spent 20 weeks at No. 1, giving it the longest run at the top for any non-holiday song in the chart’s history.
Billboard confirmed the record on the chart dated Sept. 5, 2026. Rolling Stone, Variety and Deadline also reported the milestone.
The 20th week moves “Choosin’ Texas” past the 19-week runs of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” Those songs previously shared the non-holiday record.
Only Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has spent more total weeks at No. 1. The holiday classic accumulated its weeks across repeated seasonal returns, making Langley’s non-holiday achievement especially notable.
The record also shows how dramatically country music’s presence on the all-genre Hot 100 has expanded. Streaming has helped country hits reach listeners well beyond traditional country radio.
“Choosin’ Texas” has become the defining hit of Langley’s career. Its chart run arrives as she continues the second leg of her sold-out Dandelion Tour.
For Langley, 20 weeks at No. 1 moves the song beyond a successful country single and into Billboard history. It now owns a record that some of the biggest pop, rock, rap and country hits of the Hot 100 era never reached.
