Olivia Rodrigo remains firmly inside the CLE Radio Power 40 Top 10, but “Drop Dead” lost some ground this week.
The song finishes at No. 10 on the CLE Radio Power 40 for the week of August 8, 2026, falling two positions from No. 8 last week. It earned 171 Power 40 points, based on its combined performance across national radio airplay and streaming.
Despite the decline, “Drop Dead” remains one of 2026’s notable pop releases and an important song in Rodrigo’s expanding catalog.
“Drop Dead” Finishes at No. 10
This week, “Drop Dead” ranks No. 8 on Billboard’s Radio Songs chart and No. 23 on Streaming Songs, according to the data used to compile this week’s CLE Radio Power 40.
That gives the song a particularly strong radio presence. Its streaming position is lower, which pulls down its combined Power 40 score.
The result:
This week: No. 10
Last week: No. 8
Movement: ▼ 2
Power 40 points: 171
Billboard Radio Songs: No. 8
Billboard Streaming Songs: No. 23
This is not a new entry. “Drop Dead” was already in the Top 10 last week and has now slipped two places.
Still, remaining in the Top 10 shows that the single continues to have significant reach months after its release.
“Drop Dead” Was a Major Hit From the Beginning
Rodrigo released “Drop Dead” on April 17, 2026, through Geffen Records. The track runs 3 minutes and 44 seconds and was written by Rodrigo with Amy Allen and Daniel Nigro.
Its chart arrival was enormous.
“Drop Dead” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Rodrigo’s fourth Hot 100 chart-topper. Her previous No. 1 singles were “Drivers License,” “Good 4 U” and “Vampire.”
The song also found major success outside the United States. Britain’s Official Charts Company reports that “Drop Dead” reached No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, giving Rodrigo another major international hit.
That history makes this week’s No. 10 Power 40 finish more interesting. “Drop Dead” is no longer riding its initial release surge. Instead, it is demonstrating staying power, particularly at radio.
The Song Introduced Olivia Rodrigo’s Third Album
“Drop Dead” served as the lead single for Rodrigo’s third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.
The album was released on June 12, 2026, following Rodrigo’s hugely successful SOUR and GUTS albums. Rodrigo’s official store lists “Drop Dead” as the opening track of the project.
The record also includes several songs that have become important to Rodrigo’s current era, including “Stupid Song” and “The Cure.”
In fact, Rodrigo has enough current chart activity that “Drop Dead” isn’t competing only against other artists. She’s also competing against her own newer material for listeners, streams and attention.
Olivia Rodrigo Goes Small Before Going Very Big
Rodrigo also generated headlines this week by doing something unexpected for an artist accustomed to enormous crowds.
On August 7, she played a surprise show at Warsaw in Brooklyn, an intimate venue holding roughly 1,000 people. Tickets reportedly cost just $25 and were sold in person.
The Guardian described the performance as a stripped-down contrast to the large-scale productions normally associated with Rodrigo. “Drop Dead” was among the songs performed during the set.
The Brooklyn appearance wasn’t simply a nostalgic club gig.
It came as Rodrigo prepares for an 86-date world tour, making the small performance effectively a warm-up for a much larger undertaking.
Rodrigo also recently appeared at Lollapalooza, joining the Smashing Pumpkins during the Chicago festival.
Those appearances keep her highly visible even as “Drop Dead” moves deeper into its chart run.
Can “Drop Dead” Stay in the Power 40 Top 10?
That’s now the question.
Dropping from No. 8 to No. 10 puts “Drop Dead” directly on the edge of the CLE Radio Power 40 Top 10.
But its No. 8 radio ranking provides an important advantage. Radio airplay remains strong enough to offset some of the decline in streaming.
The song therefore isn’t disappearing. It is transitioning from a massive new release into an established radio hit.
That distinction matters.
Songs can explode on streaming platforms and disappear quickly. Others develop enough radio support to remain relevant long after the first rush of streams begins to fade.
“Drop Dead” currently looks closer to the second category.
For the week of August 8, 2026, Olivia Rodrigo holds onto the final position in the CLE Radio Power 40 Top 10.
Next week will tell us whether “Drop Dead” can reverse direction—or whether one of the songs climbing behind it finally pushes Rodrigo out of the Top 10.
